President's Message

Sherry Wenrich

President, MBA of Florida

As your President, know this... I am just one of you, one of us, passionate about our industry. I feel blessed to be able to have your trust to represent this great organization so thank you.

This industry has always been based on the “Three C’s”! Now when I say that ….you may be thinking wait…is she talking about “THOSE Three C’s” you know Credit, Collateral, and capacity?  These factors are well known in our industry as the key to determining a borrower’s eligibility and terms of their mortgage.

What I want to emphasize for this organization and also set as our vision are three c’s also, but defined a little differently. THESE factors are keys to ensuring we are eligible and set the terms of how we thrive as an Organization. As a species, it is proven scientifically that we need connection. The 1st C.   C = COMNECTION.  We all need to be motivated, loved, inspired, have faith in something bigger than us, and even depend on connection to provide for our basic needs of Food, water, and shelter. None of us can do this alone. The connections of people in our amazing officers, board, committees, and especially members are a gift.  Those who have led before and grown MBA of Florida since 1952 deserve endless thanks.

The True power – that C right in the middle – the cream in the Oreo (don’t tell me that’s not the best part …or we can't be friends) The 2nd C = COLLABORATION. Financial institutions inclusive of Bankers, Brokers, Wholesale, Independent Mortgage Bankers, Credit unions, affiliates – AMC, Tech experts, PMI, Coaching consultants, Title, Builder, and real estate to name a few, even individual members. When we collaborate together, all freely lending our expertise and knowledge from our perspective, we are unstoppable. This year I have a new mission to create even more relationships and partnerships with all of you and new partnerships are key. We have and will maximize creating value for every person, we will be innovating by giving you new ways to get involved, get connected, and have information from, and for, all of you that will no doubt help you grow professionally and personally.

The 3rd C.  This word ALWAYS so strongly comes to mind and heart as to why I am a member of the MBA of Florida, why you should be a member of MBA of Florida, why every Mortgage related professional in Florida should be a member. Then a movie came to my mind. Yes, a movie. The movie so perfectly depicts what this word means to me and I hope (wait….hope is not a plan – we plan) for MBA of Florida to be able to give you this 3rd C. In this film, the main character begins by taking for granted the simple blessings of food, safe shelter, love, family. Do we take for granted the immense blessing alone that we had to do one of the most impactful roles – create homeownership? I know I have had a weak moment or two. There is a storm. Oh, there have been and there will be storms in our industry. She faces and defeats an evil that is constantly trying to show her she can’t succeed. How? It’s the third C. Then, the main character makes a series of decisions on who to trust, which road to go down, and who to follow. Oh, she makes some mistakes for sure, but what saves her? It’s the third C. There are characters that show her love and acceptance even though they are different, give her knowledge, and give her faith, grace, and courage. The irony is that she doesn’t always think she has those things on her own. The characters connect and collaborate.  The result of those things inspire her, motivate her because she is part of a greater purpose, and even provide resources that she doesn’t have on her own. There is no man behind the green curtain and there are no magic ruby slippers. The third C – it’s COMMUNITY.  We have had it all along.

We will continue to embrace, grow, survive, and thrive together as the MBA of Florida. The 3 C’s together, Connection, Collaboration, and Community. We value you.  We want you to be the strength, the voice and give the solutions that this industry needs. Join us, get involved, be a part of the story.

Warmest respects,

Sherry Wenrich
